[Bug 1228340] New: xournalpp configuration does not correctly point to the default latex template
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1228340 Bug ID: 1228340 Summary: xournalpp configuration does not correctly point to the default latex template Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: pavel.urusov@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- SUMMARY: In the default configuration shipped by openSUSE Tumbleweed, xournalpp is misconfigured. If the user clicks on the "Add TeX" button, the application displays the following error: "Global template file is not a regular file. Please check your settings." REPRO STEPS: 1. Install xournalpp (sudo zypper in xournalpp) 2. Launch xournalpp 3. Click the "Add TeX" button (which looks like the Greek letter sigma) OBSERVED RESULT: The application displays the following error message: "Global template file is not a regular file. Please check your settings." EXPECTED RESULT: Xournalpp opens the built-in TeX editor. SUGGESTIONS: The default configuration should correctly point to the default LaTeX template which is installed to /usr/share/xournalpp/resources/default_template.tex As things stand, the user is forced to go to the settings and manually select the default_template.tex file, which is not obvious. Clicking on the 'Σ' icon simply allows me to type in a LaTeX snippet (see screen-cast). Granted I tried it on GNOME.

Any more specifics about reproducing the issue would be welcome. For example, do you have `zypper` configured to not install recommended packages by default? Also, note that we do not change any configuration files from what the upstream ships, so if there is a problem upstream may be able to shed more light on it. Hi, thanks for your answers.
I installed xournalpp from TW repos on July 25th, I have been using this Tumbleweed install since April, it was a fresh install meaning that I did not migrate my home directory from the previous system.
The program was installed together with all recommended packages including texlive.
Would it be possible for you to remove the xournalpp dirs from `~/.config/` and `~/.cache/` and try entering TeX into xournalpp again? That is, something like
~> mv .config/xournalpp{,.bak} ~> mv .cache/xournalpp{,.bak}
from a terminal and then start xournalpp as you would usually. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
