MTP does not work OOTB on opensuse Leap 15.0. The fix proposed here at post 25 : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387454 fix the issue.

Could it be backported to Leap 15.0 and 15.1 ?

Well, that "fix" is a change to the udev rules shipped by libmtp. That has nothing to do with "KDE Applications", so it's not something we (the KDE team) can decide IMHO. Reassigning to Basesystem (I hope that's the right component).
