[Bug 960480] New: Removing in dragonplayer: no activities on CD anymore
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960480 Bug ID: 960480 Summary: Removing in dragonplayer: no activities on CD anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Applications Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: axel.braun@gmx.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Dragonplayer is part of patterns-opensuse-KDE plasma. If you remove it in favor for kaffeine or VLC, no activites are defined on CD audio media anymore! Means, no other player can be started . In previous openSUSE versions we had more activities (copy Media with K3b, play with ...etc), these should be added again I feel this is a major bug, as basic things are broken -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The activity handling is done exactly as upstream defined it.
If you want some changes in how plasma5 pop-up the informations report the issue/feature-request to bugs.kde.org.
Hi Tomas, the question is more - why are activities from K3b or kaffeine removed? I wonder if that happens upstream. Nevertheless, will report on kde.org. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960480 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960480#c3 Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |wbauer@tmo.at --- Comment #3 from Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> --- You are talking about the actions that the device notifier provides, right? Well, Kaffeine is a KDE4 application and KDE4 uses different filesystem locations for those actions than Plasma5/KF5 does, so they don't show up in Plasma5. We could add a symlink/copy to the Kaffeine package, please file a new bug report against Kaffeine so it won't get forgotten... For Packman's VLC this has been fixed recently, the next Packman update at least should also create actions for KF5. I'm not sure it makes sense to release an official update for Leap 42.1 though, as the included version is unable to play back most multimedia formats anyway. Although for Audio CD's it might even be worth it... (but again, you should probably file a new bug report against vlc) For K3b it should work, AFAIK the openSUSE package does install the device actions to KF5's place as well. If you are using the Packman version, you should report it to them, their package is completely independent of openSUSE's. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960480 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=960480#c4 Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|UPSTREAM |FIXED --- Comment #4 from Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> --- The kaffeine package in KDE:Extra now installs the solid actions to the "KDE5" location too, so this should work when the new package is published (also on Tumbleweed). https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/352295 I don't think this alone warrants an official update for Leap 42.1 though. Btw, you can also fix such problems yourself by copying/symlinking the corresponding .desktop files from /usr/share/kde4/apps/solid/actions/ to /usr/share/solid/actions/. It's still a good idea to report them though, so this can be done in the official packages. ;-) For VLC this has been reported in Bug#960621 btw, and a "fix" has been submitted also to the openSUSE package. As mentioned, openSUSE's k3b package (even the one included in Leap 42.1) should have the actions in Plasma5 as well. So let's instead close this as FIXED... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
