Hi Thomas, if you take a look to the supportconfig files, i have reproduced the issue with Intel processors incl. onboard video, units with Intel Haswell, Intel Kaby Lake, Intel Whiskey Lake, Intel Tiger Lake. What means USB Adapters with VGA and DVI ? The display we connect is an USB Display conncected to PC USB2/USB3 port at system unit. a) When you install SLES15 SP3 from usb stick and the 2nd usb video display is connected, the installer during installation will end with error due to Xorg crash. The Install fails. b) You can install SLES15 SP3 with 2nd usb video display connected. After successfull installation you boot and check that GDM and login with GNOME and X11 is successfull. You switch to terminal, init 3, connect the 2nd usb video display and startx. The GUI session with GDM login will not appear, just a blinking cursor left upper corner of primary display. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I have finally been able to reproduce the problem. I made a screen shot of the error message. There's call to Xorg with several arguments.
The error disappears after installing.
As a WORKAROUND:
* boot the install image * in the Grub menu 1) point to 'Installation' 2) press 'e' 3) ~5th line begins with 'linux ' 4) append the string nomodeset 5) enter ctrl-x to boot * the Yast installer will now run in text mode
After the installation is complete, the system maybe boots in text mode. You have to edit /etc/default/grub and remove 'nomodeset' from the options.
Hi Thomas, but what about the resolution, that you are not able to install in graphical mode or after installing, if you install Xorg and use Xorg, after GDM signon the Xorg is crashing ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It runs with a primary on-board Intel display, plus the DisplayLink adapter on the USB bus.

The blacklisting of the udl modules helps user to complete the installation while the secondary displaylink monitor is attached.
However, it does not enable the displaylink monitor.
After installation, rebooting the system without boot parameter of 'module_blacklist=udl' does get the secondary displaylink monitor display turn on. But User will not be able to login to Desktop due to 'Wayland' as mentioned in comment#27.
In summary, we looking to address 2 issues here (1) installation successful even with displaylink monitor attached (WORK OUT OF BOX without the manual interference of disable then enable udl module)
(2) login successful without Wayland. (why Wayland a mandatory for server installation to support displaylink monitor?)
Hi Guek, during installation you select the Desktop for example GNOME and X11 and / or Wayland. You may check what you installed. The issue appears with X11. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The issue happens together with a USB Displaylink graphics adapter --> two grahpics cards ...
If your system has more than one Displayport sconnected to the internal Intel GPU and you only have the need for one session then why don't you just connect the second monitor to the second Dispayport of the internel Intel GPU?

I don't think so. An USB Display is typically an USB Device with Display, non-touch or touch, and connected via USB2 cable. The display has an usb2 type-b port and connects to usb2 or usb3 type-A port. The protocol to transport the video signal is from company DisplayLink (now Synaptics, they bought them). suspend & resume should be on different topics of reporting..
Anyhow, the connected Displaylink monitor's port number will change to a new port number upon resume back from suspend. That is nothing displayed on monitor but the power is there.

I have also imported all the relevant comments regarding this matter to that ticket, so please proceed from there. As for this ticket here, as soon as Ricardo reports a successful testing (if any) on the 2nd machine that he is performing now, we can close this ticket as resolved and then we will coordinate within our Release Team the distribution of the fix through our official channels. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This bug was prematurely closed. It is still present in openSUSE Leap 15.3.
@Marc Balmer: You are mixing up the bug fix and the fix release. This ticket has been closed because the solution for the bug has been found by SUSE's Engineering team and has passed OK in the experimental testing done by two engineers from our official partner Toshiba. Now have an "emergency" patch (so-called "PTF") in preparation, to be distributed to SUSE's official partners, and also have an internal process going on in order to integrate this fix both in SLES15 SP3's next maintenance update and the upcoming SLES15 SP4 releases. As now the openSUSE Leap and the official SUSE SLES product are binary compatible, possible you will be able to pull the corrected package once the maintenance update gets released. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
