[Bug 974802] New: dracut 044-5.1 fails with md-mirrored root, system unbootable
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=974802 Bug ID: 974802 Summary: dracut 044-5.1 fails with md-mirrored root, system unbootable Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: carlsonj@workingcode.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I updated my Tumbleweed box with "zypper dup" today (10 April 2016), and the resulting system did not boot. I ran with "rdshell" and "rdinitdebug" to gather some debugging information, and it appears that dracut is having trouble with mdadm. I see what looks like mdadm usage messages dumped into the rdsosreport.txt file. Then it fails to locate /dev/md0 and eventually times out. This is with kernel 4.5.0. Reverting to kernel 4.4.3 works around the problem but is (obviously) a less than good answer. I've placed copies of the following dmesg, journalctl -a, rdsosreport.txt, /proc/mdstat output, /proc/cmdline output, mdadm --detail, blkid, and blkid -o udev here: http://www.workingcode.com/dracut/ (I would have made them attachments, and will do so if requested, but at least two of them are rather large -- 2MB.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
