http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1165977 Bug ID: 1165977 Summary: 4k monitor only allowing 30 Hz refresh rate on AMD Vega 8 via HDMI2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: 64bit OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: stanakopita@openmailbox.org QA Contact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 832154 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=832154&action=edit Xorg log Using a Benq 4k-capable monitor on a Lenovo X395 with a Vega 8 GPU. KDE is only allowing a selection of 25 or 30 Hz in display settings. Trying to add a new mode via xrandr and activate that has been unsuccessful. The monitor works at 60Hz in Windows using the same cable (dual-boot). I've also tried a live usb of Fedora 31 which also managed 59.98 Hz without any additional configuration. hwinfo --monitor: -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 832338 [details] dmesg output
Thomas, Patrik. Any idea, why 60 Hz 4k modes fail here?
Not sure why the connector in dmesg is HDMI-A-1 when the output from xrandr is HDMI-A-0 but maybe that doesn't matter.
I would guess this also changed now for xrandr after reboot.
Also, the gtf-suggested numbers also failed to apply.
Ok. Nice try. :-( -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
