[Bug 1196765] New: Check network connectivity and help with connection establish
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1196765 Bug ID: 1196765 Summary: Check network connectivity and help with connection establish Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: slawek@lach.art.pl QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- When user login on console, check network connection. If system is connected to network, do nothing (maybe show welcome screen, similar to this is GUI?). If system is not connect to internet, check nmtui is installed. If not, do nothing or search other tool. If some tool to connect to internet is installed, suggest user to use it. Example: You do not have network connection, but nmtui is present. Type nmtui and configure network connection, if you like. I think, it is too simple feature request, I could implement it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I do not think that this is suitable as a general item: * Network connectivity comes in many flavors. These include offline work and networks without a general internet connection - in many parts of the world. Having this for non-GUI terminals is too far removed from the reality in which these would be used. * A lack of network connection is generically communicated to the user upon first attempt to connect to a network resource. * Your request can be implemented as a site specific log-in script if needed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
