[Bug 903855] New: Gnome Software worked once, then "No application data found"
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=903855 Bug ID: 903855 Summary: Gnome Software worked once, then "No application data found" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201410* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sb56637@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hi, I don't know what happened in Gnome Software, but it only worked one time. The first time I ran it as a normal user, it didn't prompt me for the root password and it couldn't access any information. So I ran it as root, and all looked good. It was showing featured apps and all the tabs worked. I went to the update tab and refreshed, and it said no updates. So I closed Gnome Software and opened YaST to check if there were indeed no updates. The next time I opened Gnome Software, it doesn't work. It only says "No application data found". I restarted the entire system, and un-installed/re-installed gnome-software with its depenencies, but it doesn't work. On the first run you were likely too impatient, as the cache for the repository data was not built up (first contaact with PK inistated the cache refresh based on the repositories). Is your --verbose run above again as root? Please DO NOT do that (root is not meant to be used inside a gnome session UI EVER... you will have fun issues with various dconf settings being re-owned). My recommendation, before diagnosing: - Restart the machine; even here this should ensure various caches to be flushed - Start gnome-software --verbose as user and pass the output on to us. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I rebooted and tried it as a normal user, but it still doesn't work. I'm attaching the log. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

(gnome-software and the packages it depends on have had numerous changes since this bug was filed). Should you however still have this issue with current Tumbleweed, feel free to reopen. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
