Hi,

you starting gnome-software as root most likely messed up some caches in the
users home directory... this app is NOT meant to be started as root.

On the first run you were likely too impatient, as the cache for the repository
data was not built up (first contaact with PK inistated the cache refresh based
on the repositories).

Is your --verbose run above again as root?

Please DO NOT do that (root is not meant to be used inside a gnome session UI
EVER... you will have fun issues with various dconf settings being re-owned).

My recommendation, before diagnosing:
- Restart the machine; even here this should ensure various caches to be
flushed
- Start gnome-software --verbose as user and pass the output on to us.
