According to autofs man pages it is possible to add "+map" in order to specified another NIS map (the default is normaly auto.master). I've tried this but it doesn't work... I've checked out in /etc/init.d/autofs and the getmounts_files function doesn't extract "+map" information in /etc/auto.master. And the getmounts_nis functions always uses auto.master : "ypcat -k auto.master | sed -e '/^\/-[ \t]/d'..." There is a work going on to make this possible. I am currently evaluating autofs5. Since this is a major upgrade this will have be be tested before updating to the new version. Having it in 10.3 would be desirable, because autofs5 will have some new features and be more in compliance with industry standards.
