[Bug 1185040] New: Gnome 40: wobbly three finger up/down touchpad gestures
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185040 Bug ID: 1185040 Summary: Gnome 40: wobbly three finger up/down touchpad gestures Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: gnome-bugs@suse.de Reporter: kwizzz@googlemail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Did the tumbleweed upgrade to Gnome 40; currently running snapshot 20210416. The newly introduced three finger up/down gestures are a bit wobbly. It looks like I cannot produce enough "momentum" on the touchpad to move the screen up for Activities and Applications (second three finger upwards movement). You can clearly see that the screen starts to move up a bit, but my fingers reach the end of the touchpad before it fully moves to Activities/Applications. If the mouse pointer is over firefox, weird things happen in firefox, sometimes even the current tab is getting closed. The most successful way with the three finger gestures is to move the pointer out of any window and then do the three finger up swipe. Once in the Activities view, it works a bit better if I have the cursor in the greyish area. Laptop is a Fujitsu S936. ................................................ linux:~ # dmesg | grep -i touchpad [ 3.751510] psmouse serio2: synaptics: Your touchpad (PNP: SYN1f10 PNP0f13) says it can support a different bus. http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185040 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1185040#c1 --- Comment #1 from Chris Schaller <kwizzz@googlemail.com> --- Quick update: set smouse.synaptics_intertouch to 1. Now the behaviour is much better and much more responsive. Wobblyness gone. Still, some strange things are happening: In order to reach the Applications overview, I need to use 3 three finger up gestures. First one moves into Activities. Second one makes the windows in Activities overview a bit smaller. Third finally shows Applications. This behaviour does not exist, if I -- again -- keep the mouse cursor out of windows and inside the grey area when in Activities. Especially while being in firefox (like scrolling, reading, typing this report), sometimes the first three finger up gesture brings up Applications overview without the desktop view above. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Could not reproduce Alynx's bug. However, you should be able to reproduce my issue w/o firefox or any other window. Close all windows so that you just have the blank openSUSE green background, swipe up. Now, if the mouse pointer is outside the zoomed out green area (i.e. the grey area), another swipe up works as expected. However, if the mouse pointer is inside the green area, you will notice that intermediate zoom state. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

First, three finger swipe upwards having mouse pointer in the "green"; notice that before displaying the apps overview, there is a kind of intermediate "zoom" of the desktop. Did this twice. Then, I moved the mouse cursor a bit to the left to have it out of the green desktop in preview. Notice that now we will directly land in apps overview. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
