[Bug 1108163] New: Firefox does not notice connection status of NetworkManager
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108163 Bug ID: 1108163 Summary: Firefox does not notice connection status of NetworkManager Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox Assignee: bnc-team-mozilla@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: lnussel@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- If Firefox is started before NetworkManager connects to a network, Firefox thinks the system is offline. One needs to close Firefox and open it again. Chromium on the other hand detects the system connection status. I guess it talks to NetworkManager. Could Firefox do the same? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108163 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1108163#c2 --- Comment #2 from Wolfgang Rosenauer <wolfgang@rosenauer.org> --- There is still code in Mozilla to work with dbus and NetworkManager apparently to get surrounding access points for geolocation services. Meanwhile found https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1179568 which indicates that there is a new implementation covering the usecase in netwerk/system/linux. From a very very quick look at it I'm not sure it does a lot. It does not detect the online/offline status but instead watches out for network change events to distribute them within Firefox. So from all what I just found I would expect Firefox to behave correctly already. At least that seems to be the intention. Probably the exact scenario needs to be reported upstream to see where the issue is. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This seems to occur in Firefox occasionally for me (e.g. after suspend/resume). Loading a page using IP address seems to work (e.g. 171.67.215.200) but not using a domain name. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

See this (now rather old) article: https://www.ghacks.net/2010/12/17/prevent-firefox-from-entering-work-offline... mode/ No, I'm afraid that didn't have any effect.
