According to the QLandkarteGT mailing list (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=31169900) this happens if you compile QLandkarteGT without libexif part of the build process. Could you please build the next version (1.7.1 is available since a while) with support of adding geotagged pictures.
