https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786345 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786345#c0 Summary: cmake-disable-builtin-chrpath patch limits users' choice for unclear reasons Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Milestone 0 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: aeszter@gwdg.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en; rv:1.9.2.28) Gecko/20120308 Camino/2.1.2 (like Firefox/3.6.28) In 2008, a patch was added to cmake that forces the builtin rpath editor to off. Upstream behaviour is to control the editor via a variable. The patch was apparently added here, without a corresponding changelog entry: https://build.opensuse.org/package/rdiff?linkrev=base&package=cmake&project=devel%3Atools%3Abuilding&rev=11 Since this modifies cmake behaviour in a non-overrideable way (also outside of RPM builds), the patch should only be kept if there is a strong case for it. If the reason is to be found in the correct building of RPMs, an alternative solution would be desirable (e.g. cmake -D CMAKE_NO_BUILTIN_CHRPATH=1 with an appropriate RPM macro).
