[Bug 1035824] New: Game endless-sky-0.9.4-3.1.x86_64 freezes the display sporadically
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824 Bug ID: 1035824 Summary: Game endless-sky-0.9.4-3.1.x86_64 freezes the display sporadically Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: sebastian.parschauer@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The game endless-sky with version 0.9.4-3.1 is unplayable on openSUSE Leap 42.1. It sporadically freezes the whole screen especially on the space map and on the outfitter screen after 20min of playing at max. Once it was possible to use Ctrl + Alt + F2 to capture the kernel stack trace and the gdb backtrace but I've noticed that no debuginfo package is built. I could only see that libxcb is involved and that it is hanging in poll(). Usually it crashes in a way that also switching the login terminal is not possible and even a kdump can't be triggered by sysrq-c. It happens both in window mode and fullscreen mode. Other games like e.g. Chromium B.S.U. or Warzone 2100 work fine. HW is a Lenovo Thinkpad X250 laptop. Display manager: gdm Window manager GNOME 3 Will build with debuginfo and retest, will update to version 0.9.6 and retest. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can't update to 0.9.6 due to missing libmad for new mp3 music and music can't be disabled at compile time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824#c2 --- Comment #2 from Sebastian Parschauer <sebastian.parschauer@suse.com> --- There is a repeating message when starting the game from a terminal:
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824#c3 --- Comment #3 from Matthias Mailänder <matthias@mailaender.name> --- I enabled debuginfo on OBS so you can get stacktraces. However those have to be reported upstream. The libpng warning isn't serious. Submitted libmad via https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/491354 so Tumbleweed can update to the latest version once the review succeeds. I assume the MP3 codec might cause legal problems. It might be necessary to provide a patch to make it optional. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824#c4 --- Comment #4 from Sebastian Parschauer <sebastian.parschauer@suse.com> --- As a quickfix I've installed Ubuntu to an external HDD and gathered version 0.9.6 compiled with libmad from a ppa - works flawlessly on same HW. So this seems to be fixed upstream already. Can't say for sure before testing version 0.9.6 on openSUSE. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1035824#c5 Sebastian Parschauer <sebastian.parschauer@suse.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX --- Comment #5 from Sebastian Parschauer <sebastian.parschauer@suse.com> --- Looks like a nasty libxcb bug. I've compiled game version 0.9.6 from source and it also freezes the display. It's running fine on Ubuntu 14.04.5 Trusty from:
https://launchpad.net/~mzahniser/+archive/ubuntu/endless-sky Version: 0.9.6-1trusty
openSUSE Leap 42.1 is plain too unstable. Will upgrade to 42.2. So closing as WONTFIX. Thanks! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
