[Bug 1202469] New: Keep Gradle more recent
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202469 Bug ID: 1202469 Summary: Keep Gradle more recent Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Development Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: Markus.Elfring@web.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I would like to point information out like the following. :~> rpm -qi gradle Source RPM : gradle-4.4.1-14.2.src.rpm Build Date : Mi 15 Jun 2022 10:29:04 CEST See also: https://build.opensuse.org/package/revisions/openSUSE:Factory/gradle How do you think about to compare the provided (and supported) software functionality any more? https://docs.gradle.org/current/release-notes.html A compatibility matrix indicates constraints for the desired collaboration of corresponding software components. https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/compatibility.html#java Will the chances grow so that more recent (or even current) software versions (like 7.5.1) can be applied for such a build automation tool? Which development possibilities should be reconsidered for reducing the version gap considerably? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

A bit pointless as it is. I'd say to just download the latest version of Gradle from the Gradle site, uncompress it and put it in your PATH. Other than that, 7.5.1 is available on OBS in home project of some users (opi gradle) but I would check them first for security. Probably better to download the binary distribution mentioned above. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

May have a reason for staying on the old version - compatibility maybe? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
