http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1009930 Bug ID: 1009930 Summary: X11:XOrg/Mesa: Bug Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software Assignee: sndirsch@suse.com Reporter: pedro.rosado@protonmail.com QA Contact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Ubuntu users have https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers to get the latest mesa and driver versions on Ubuntu linux, but we don't have the same for Opensuse. Is it possible for the community to have a repo like that, that still leaves opensuse leap 42.2 stable to their users, but upgrades the mentioned packages so we can get a boost for gaming and video editing? In my case, AMD gpu pro driver doesn't support my R7 240 card but on the other hand, the difference from kernel 4.4 to the same with the mentioned repo is a big one. All native games got a massive performance boost with a modern version of mesa, etc. Amd gpu pro is far from supporting older hardware, and the open drivers are getting real good, so it would be nice to have this repo to implement that -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Works fine for me with openSUSE 13.2 and openSUSE Leap 42.2 RC2. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1009930 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1009930#c2 --- Comment #2 from Pedro Rosado <pedro.rosado@protonmail.com> --- I've added the repo and I've updated mesa-libgl package along with some others to the 13th version. But I'm confused about this, the repo is enabled but why didn't opensuse suggest the upgrade of those packages since the repo offers packages with an higher version number? I had to do it manually through the package manager on leap 42.2. Second, why isn't that repo discriminated so end users can find it? On the facebook group no one could answer the question, and I came here with a bug report since it was what the community told me to do on the suse forums. Third, thank you, since it is working lol. Also are the packages on this repo bleeding edge or how does it work? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So no, it's not recommended to be used for Leap users, unless they are capable and willing to fix their system theirselves after possibly breaking it by using updates from this repo. There will always be GPUs in the market, which are not supported by our Leap product - unfortunately. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
