https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642443 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642443#c5 Brandon Philips <bphilips@novell.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Severity|Major |Critical --- Comment #5 from Brandon Philips <bphilips@novell.com> 2010-10-06 18:00:42 UTC --- As Nisha has experienced this is quite a dangerous bug that can cause data loss of a file in this quite easy to reproduce situation: 1) Open a file in openoffice, inkscape, etc from an ftp mount 2) Modify file to make it larger than it was (say adding several slides to an initially very empty Powerpoint) 3) Press save In cases where the file takes more than a few seconds to save back to the FTP server you can encounter this stall and then the application freezes (some better behaved apps do eventually time out). In all cases the original file is corrupted and the changes can be lost depending on the app (gimp seems to recover if you are very patient). We should either fix this or disable ftp in gvfs to protect our users. Raising to Critical as there is possible data lose. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642443 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642443#c8 --- Comment #8 from Scott Couston <scott@aphofis.com> 2011-12-18 19:59:46 UTC --- RE #4 The product and its packing list are all part of the OpenSuse product As OpenSuse Bugzilla can/will auto create/modify in KDE Bugzilla, I assume this is correct for GNome. Brandon, If my assumption is correct you created an FTP Server in Yast, perhaps you might need to change this to a Yast Bug rather than Gnome. I would suggest that the priority be Major as the file being sent may be corrupt or incomplete but there is no damage to the original file. From experience nothing is going to happen until you test this in 12.1 and either confirm/agree to #7 If this bug is about Yast FTP good luck mate :-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in openSUSE since the time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a current, supported openSUSE version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly reopen this bug and move it to the tested version of openSUSE. Truly yours. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
