Could you check if it is possible to configure the Fn-F5 in bios ? Also try to install the rfkill utility and list the status "rfkill list all" while you toggle the Fn-F5. The rfkill can also manipulate the soft status. This could be a workaround possibility if FN-F5 is hardwired. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I will leave it open until you connect and test rfkill.

I believe that this applet is just a GUI to the killswitch interface. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is the info above of any use?
Yes, it is. You can turn on and off wifi with "rfkill block 2" and "rfkill unblock 2". You can do the same with Bluetooth and IDENTIFIER 3. I am not aware of an universal GUI for opensuse though. It would be good to package the indicator-applet you mentioned. I have tried this but other packages like libpanelapplet and indicator are missing too. If this command-line workaround is working for you I would like to close it. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As I am currently not at my laptop so couldn't really try out. Is the command # rfkill block 0 or # rfkill block Bluetooth the correct way to switch off ONLY bluetooth using rfkill, thanks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You mean I can selectively switch off ONLY bluetooth with rfkill?
Yes. "rfkill block 3" blocks just the Bluetooth. I would use "2" to manipulate Wifi and "3" to manipulate Bluetooth. Identifier "0" is created with the acpi modul. I would like to add myself to this bug as another "me too".
Unfortunately there is no GUI to the rfkill utility at present. There are discussions how to integrate it to the desktop. But meanwhile the effort to open a terminal and manipulate the rfkill interfaces from the command-line is not that difficult. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
