Leap 42.3 Konqueror can not function as a file manager.
Works fine here on a standard 42.3 KDE installation.
Most of its functionality is lost. This fact seems to me to be due to the lack of the package libkonq
No. libkonq is part of the standard konqueror package now. And at least some of its functionality has been moved to kio, because it was not konqueror-specific at all and even duplicated in dolphin and the folderview desktop applet. But, konqueror uses dolphin for file-browsing (since 4.0). So check that dolphin-part is installed. If that's not the problem, then please clarify what exactly you mean with "most functionality is lost". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Dear Wolfgang I made a 'clean' standard 42.3 KDE installation (new disk, only Main and Update Repos). When I start Konqueror via konqueror --profile filemanagement an instance of konqueror opens as webbrowser. There is no sidebar. Also: In menubar --> View there is no the option 'Adjust View Properties', In menubar --> Settings there is no the option 'show sidebar', there is no the options 'Load, Save and Configure View Profile' In addition, some other minor options are missing. When I try to list konqueror profiles via konqueror --profiles the answer is 'Unknown option 'profiles'.' That is what I mean with "most functionality is lost". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Profiles have been removed upstream.
There is no sidebar.
That has been removed upstream too.
In menubar --> View there is no the option 'Adjust View Properties', In menubar --> Settings there is no the option 'show sidebar', there is no the options 'Load, Save and Configure View Profile' In addition, some other minor options are missing.
Again, removed upstream. To use Konqueror for file management, just enter a folder into the address field, or click on the down-arrow next to the "home page" button and choose "Personal Folder". I added a Recommends to the dolphin package so that file management also works if you didn't do a full KDE installation. That seems to have got lost along the way. I consider this bug to be fixed now, feel free to take up the rest with upstream if you want. That's nothing openSUSE specific, and there's nothing we can do about it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

To use Konqueror for file management, just enter a folder into the address field, or click on the down-arrow next to the "home page" button and choose "Personal Folder".
Or specify a folder on the command line, e.g.: konqueror ~
I added a Recommends to the dolphin package
I mean to the konqueror package of course. PS:
In menubar --> View there is no the option 'Adjust View Properties',
I just checked, and that is actually there. But only if you are in "file management mode", of course, i.e. if you actually opened a folder. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
