https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804188 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=804188#c0 Summary: Kmail - Kgpg interaction problem causing sent mail to "vanish" while being unreadable for the receiver. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: stakanov@freenet.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:18.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/18.0 All this happens with a pop3/smtp account, I did no test with imap/smtop. A bit difficult to explain even to myself. So: Receive and encrypted email, reply to it after having de-crypted. First you see that the mail is not readable anymore (the replied text appears "scambled". Now, if you take of this useless text, you write your message and encrypt it with your correct key and send it the following will happen. The mail departures but after wards it is findable nowhere in the send folder. The person will receive the mail but it will not be able to decrypt the message you did sent (although it was sent with the correct public key / secret key combination. Now this is erratic but happens currently with one person using a 2046/2046 RSA signature from a Mac (with enigmail and t-bird) and corresponding to me (me using kmail2 from 9.4.5 (but this happened also using the regular 4.8.5 and a 4096/4096 RSA signature with Kgpg). It is quite reliable and can be provocated using the described "procedure". I would be interested to find out: where the send mail goes, why the receiver cannot encrypt and why during the reply on my desk already the text appears scrambled and not in clear as it should. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Receive an email from a Mac user in the described configuration 2.Reply while erasing the original text and writing a new one. 3.Sign, encrypt correctly and send. Actual Results: The reply will show up with the original text scrambled, the text you write yourself will appear normal, when you send the message, it will vanish from the send folder (as it would have never existed). The person receives the encrypted message but cannot open the encryption correctly with her/his key. Expected Results: The replied message should have a readable text from the sender. The own text should be also inserted flawlessly. After the sending, the message should go in the send folder and not vanish. The receiver should be able to decrypt the message. I tried with kgpg log but no error seems to show up. All appears normal. The message appears completely unsigned. When encrypted, the message appears unsigned but encrypted, can be decrypted and read. The reply then has the problem as described before.
