I had a similar issue for SLES 15, even provided a patch dropping the duplicated closes from curl_easy_cleanup() but nobody dared to apply it. See: https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1113787 Even today I need to replace curl calls with wget in projects for proper SSL handling.
