[Bug 1095675] New: High CPU on copying big amount of data
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1095675 Bug ID: 1095675 Summary: High CPU on copying big amount of data Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: hotmusicfan@mail.bg QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hello! This is an old issue that I have seen for many years and it is not resolved yet. I'm experiencing very high CPU when copying big number of files from my backup to the HDD on a newly installed system. I'm talking about 300+ GB data of various types. The issue results in freezing of programs, audio lags when playing music, unresponsive desktop. I don't know exactly what causes this problem but I assume it is something in the kernel because I have this problem since openSUSE 12.1, I've also seen it on all Fedora versions I've used (17-22), tested on both ext4 and XFS on 3 different machines (HP635, HP ProBook 4540s and my current Fujitsu Celsius H710 - all 3 of them with a different hardware). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
