[Bug 1202199] New: Gnome Files (Nautilus) format on USB key does nothing
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202199 Bug ID: 1202199 Summary: Gnome Files (Nautilus) format on USB key does nothing Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: gnome-bugs@suse.de Reporter: c.j@tuta.io QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The problem: 1. Insert a USB key (fat 32). 2. It appears in the left panel in nautilus. 3. In the right click menu on the USB key, click "Format..." 4. Nothing happens. On Fedora 36 it brings up the Gnome Disks formatting page for the USB. On Tumbleweed it does nothing. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Do you see the similar error in the terminal: "Cannot parse integer value xxxxxx for --xid"? Besides, could you provide: * does using gnome-disks to format directly work for you? * are you using Wayland or Xorg on TW and Fedora 36 respectively? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202199 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1202199#c4 --- Comment #4 from C J <c.j@tuta.io> --- 1. Yes I see this message on the terminal when I click on "Format...": "Cannot parse integer value e00008 for --xid" 2. Yes using Gnome Disks directly works. 3. I am on the xorg session (due to nvidia 470 drivers). Logging out and logging back into wayland: IT WORKS ! But unfortunately I have to use the xorg session due to the wayland bugs with nvidia (and the wayland session still doesn't apply the monitor icc color correction profiles files set in Gnome > Settings > Color - this looks like a still missing feature in wayland?). Could you please update the repo with the nautilus version that fixes this issue, as explained in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/1265 and https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/commit/7caa0ae67607d104a20482d686f... ? This fix is not that easily working with GNOME 42 since it is implemented based on the newly designed sidebar (for GNOME 43) - a bit more than a refactoring. Based on the GNOME 43 schedule (release on September or so), the most efficient way seems to wait for the new release and make use of gnome-disk-utility as a temporary workaround. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
