I use the "view only" mode in a lecture. I don't want 30 participants to control my session. The view only mode was very useful for this purpose.
I could try "-viewonly" on vncviewer end, but this is the part of the participants, some of them may forget this option and make bad jokes.
It is indeed important feature. I didn't know that we lost it by switching to tigervnc until this bug. It's on my list to look into adding it. If you want to help, patches are welcome. ;-)
A second thing, I know I should open a new bug-report, but what is about IPv6-Support? vncserver (now tried also opensuse 13.2) still listens only to IPv4.
It's true, neither old tightvnc neither new tigervnc listen on IPv6. It's not a bug, it's a (lack of) feature. Quick search shows that there are some patches for it floating around internet. Once any of them makes it into upstream, then it will get into opensuse. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
