[Bug 1134088] New: gdrive, does not work anymore
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1134088 Bug ID: 1134088 Summary: gdrive, does not work anymore Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: epistemepromeneur@free.fr QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- i use gdrive 1.2.5 from KDE Extra since i updated to kde app 19.04, kde framework 5.57.0, qt 5.12.3 then no more access to Google drive with dolphin. i send a report upstream https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=407184 kde team says that gdrive must be rebuild. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1134088 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1134088#c1 Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse. | |org, wbauer@tmo.at Assignee|kde-maintainers@suse.de |opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse. | |org Flags| |needinfo?(opensuse-kde-bugs | |@opensuse.org) --- Comment #1 from Wolfgang Bauer <wbauer@tmo.at> --- I assume you are using KDE:Applications as well, do you? A rebuild won't help then. The problem is that libkgapi had an incompatible change in 19.04, so kio-gdrive would need to be built against that. But KDE:Extra doesn't build against KDE:Applications, only the standard distribution. In other words, this is basically the same problem as bug#1017342. The only possible fix I see would be to provide KDE:Extra built against KDE:Applications as well. (in this particular case we could also add kio-gdrive to KDE:Applications, but that wouldn't help with other packages) So I ask my fellow KDE team members again: can we please do that, or does anybody object? There are other packages in KDE:Extra that would profit. E.g. kmymoney and skrooge require the very same Qt version they are built against as they use private headers because of sqlcipher, a few others require a newer Qt version anyway like elisa. Btw, we should change the default bugowner of KDE:Extra too, AFAIK nobody reads kde-maintainers@suse.de anymore... ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

yes i updated opensuse leap 15.0 with the argon repos. i use kde extra to get last version of digikam, kdeconnect, plasmoid-redshift kde connect last version is very important because kdeconnect evolves very fast today. kdeconnect-kde must follow kdeconnect-android. gdrive it's just a playground for me. it is too poor. i prefer to use drive.google.com installed as an app. if all in extra is compiled with leap 15.0 i understand there are some problems with argon repos. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

kde connect last version is very important because kdeconnect evolves very fast today. kdeconnect-kde must follow kdeconnect-android. Not really, AFAIK there normally shouldn't be incompatibilities.
And for the one that was recently, we did release an update for Leap 15.0, see bug#1116123 . In other words, if there would be a new incompatibility, it should be reported to us and we'll do a maintenance update if possible. Of course that won't apply for new features. ;-) That's rather irrelevant here though, as the problem is that you are using the KDE:Applications repo too, which contains the incompatible libkgapi. KDE:Extra is *not* your problem, the version from the standard repo wouldn't work as well. But building KDE:Extra against KDE:Applications would solve that problem... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

That one is built against KDE:Applications and should work with the new libkgapi therefore. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

See my bug report about argon 15.0(same problem with argon 15.1) https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1136582 Also, you can't install calibre from standard repo you must use the calibre intaller https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux In fact argon is not a coherent distribution. You can't just add the standard repos and the argon repos (extra, app, kde framewoks, qt). All must be compiled against the good dependancies. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Also, there are a problem with FF 67 from And what problem exactly?
Firefox is a GTK3 application...
See my bug report about argon 15.0(same problem with argon 15.1)
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1136582 ??? Apparently that's rather a bug in 15.0 in that it did show the "Network". I cannot reproduce it here on 15.1 with the additional repos, i.e. similar to Argon.
But let's please keep it in that bug report. Thanks.
Also, you can't install calibre from standard repo you must use the calibre intaller https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux
Indeed. They would need to build it against KDE:Qt5, or we could link it in KDE:Extra when it is built against KDE:Applications.
In fact argon is not a coherent distribution. In fact, Argon is just a LiveCD really, not a distribution.

If you read my post you'll understand it's about FF kde file selector.
kde connect last version is very important because kdeconnect evolves very fast today. kdeconnect-kde must follow kdeconnect-android.
Not really, AFAIK there normally shouldn't be incompatibilities.
It's about features and fixes not incompatibilities. For digikam I wonder why opensuse supplies a less mature version 6.0.0 instead of 6.1, why pulseaudio 11.1 instead of 12.2 etc. Generally today apps get more frequent update to get sooner fixes this is obvious with ke apps, kde plasma, kde frameworks. I don't understand that opensuse which wants a quality level does not follow this stream.
In fact argon is not a coherent distribution.
In fact, Argon is just a LiveCD really, not a distribution.
I wish it will be a distribution: a stable underlying layer evolving slowly, a fast evolving app layer to get fixes sooner. Perhaps Android is the way to follow.
PS: if you want a coherent distribution with the latest versions (of everything), you can use openSUSE Tumbleweed instead.
Not really. Tumbleweed is not a today use version. I tried it. Immediately I get some nasty problems for my use. Argon is the good way to follow : little problem (for my use) and fixes sooner. I use it since 42.3. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you read my post you'll understand it's about FF kde file selector. But that is totally unrelated to this bug report.
kde connect last version is very important because kdeconnect evolves very fast today. kdeconnect-kde must follow kdeconnect-android.

It's about features and fixes not incompatibilities. You can get the latest versions from KDE:Extra. Released Leap versions will normally only get bugfix and security updates.
For digikam I wonder why opensuse supplies a less mature version 6.0.0 instead of 6.1, why pulseaudio 11.1 instead of 12.2 etc. digikam 6.1.0 is in KDE:Extra, Leap 15.0 came with 5.9.0 (not 6.0.0).
pulseaudio is not related to KDE. But that's the policy of Leap. The distribution is frozen at release, and only gets bugfix and security updates. And the release has deadlines, afterwards it's not possible to get newer versions in anymore (that's why e.g. 15.1 ships with digikam 6.0.0 and not 6.1.0). Again, if you want to always get the latest versions, use Tumbleweed, that's why it exists.
Generally today apps get more frequent update to get sooner fixes this is obvious with ke apps, kde plasma, kde frameworks. I don't understand that opensuse which wants a quality level does not follow this stream. We do, with Tumbleweed.
And we somewhat do it in Leap as well, as we always update the KDE packages to the latest versions with every new release (though we try to stay with LTS versions if available, which should actually help with the "quality level").
PS: if you want a coherent distribution with the latest versions (of everything), you can use openSUSE Tumbleweed instead.
Not really. Tumbleweed is not a today use version. I tried it. Immediately I get some nasty problems for my use. ??? And why would you suggest then to transform Leap into a second Tumbleweed? ;-)
Argon is the good way to follow : little problem (for my use) and fixes sooner. I use it since 42.3. Sure, but the point is that Argon is not a distribution. It's just openSUSE Leap (15.0 currently) with additional KDE repos
Anyway, Tumbleweed should actually be fine for everyday use. pre-configured. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The Argon LiveCD build scripts have been updated to use this now too, so the next build should have this preconfigured. This should fix the incompatibilities/conflicts. Should be fixed already with the latest signond packages in KDE:Applications (submitted half an hour ago), see bug#1172904 (and that's completely unrelated to the original problem here anyway). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
