[Bug 696278] New: X Segmentation Fault (Intel 945GM, possibly libglx)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=696278 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=696278#c0 Summary: X Segmentation Fault (Intel 945GM, possibly libglx) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrew@acooke.org QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=431545) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=431545) X log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/534.24 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/11.0.696.68 Safari/534.24 Hi, Installed 11.4 recently and X has crashed a couple of times. Apparently at random I am dumped back at kdm. I've been searching around and there seem to be various possible bugs, but I couldn't find anything that matches exactly (one bug I found mentioned chrome, and it is true that I am running chrome, but I suspect irrelevant). Anyway, here's the trace from the X log: [224028.405] Backtrace: [224028.413] 0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x4b3bf8] [224028.414] 1: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x60039) [0x460039] [224028.414] 2: /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x7f928ed56000+0x32b30) [0x7f928ed88b30] [224028.414] 3: /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (0x7f928dbed000+0x38928) [0x7f928dc25928] [224028.414] 4: /usr/bin/Xorg (FreeResource+0x12e) [0x430c9e] [224028.414] 5: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x33796) [0x433796] [224028.414] 6: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x37f01) [0x437f01] [224028.414] 7: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x25ace) [0x425ace] [224028.414] 8: /lib64/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xfd) [0x7f928ed74bfd] [224028.414] 9: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x25679) [0x425679] [224028.414] Segmentation fault at address 0xff000004 [224028.414] Fatal server error: [224028.414] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). This was after hibernate to disk. It came back, but the cursor was frozen. Then on Ctrl-Alt-Del the entire machine locked up. After power cycling /home (on a separate logical volume) was missing from ftsab. Fixing that meant I lost any X log, but /var/log/messages had plenty of noise. No idea how a line can end up missing from fstab, but everything seems back to normal once that was fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hitting escape got me back at the text console and alt-F2 (unsure of the number) back to X. In /var/log/messages appears: May 27 08:43:58 small kernel: [46315.967052] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... I switch to Tumbleweed, which seemed to fix things. Then on Sunday (IIRC) I messed that up while upgrading (PAM was broken by upgrade, could not log in) and re-installed 11.4. Since then I have not seen this problem. So it seems like it may either have been fixed by some upgrade, or was due to some random combination of libs that I have not reproduced. So currently 11.4 is working for me. I will return here if I have crashes in the next day or two, but otherwise perhaps this should be closed as not reproducible and/or fixed? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
