Can you please be a bit more specific? What kind of "instability" are experiencing? If you mean you cannot mount shares, that's because the security team doesn't like that. See bug#1041511 Nothing we, the KDE team, can do here unfortunately. Stick to the version from KDE:Extra please. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I wrote about instability thinking that smb4k did not always worked well in all openSUSE versions I used during the time. It was not about some crashes of the software.
That is not a valid bug report though. What is not working well in what situation on what openSUSE version? Also, I only specifically mentioned that mouning does not work myself, not some crash. You were talking about "a lot of instability", without any details.
A lot of people are using smb4k. Deleting it will make their work with openSUSE more difficult. It will be a nice surprise if some one may change it to make security people happy together with the customers... I am sorry to see so many abandoned or deleted or unsupported packages, get out from openSUSE one by one.
Feel free to reopen the other bug report, discuss this with the security team and persuade them to allow the mount helper.
Probably this way supporting less packages in openSUSE may become more easy
That's not the point here. The problem is that we cannot update the package in the distribution without disabling the mount helper, which means that mounting shares will not work *at all* which is one of the main features of smb4k. You can browse shares with e.g. dolphin too.
Please if you will delete it, could you inform if you are planning to make it still available in KDE:Extra after it?
Yes, of course. That's actually the reason of deleting it from the distribution. If we wanted to keep it in the distribution, we'd need to cripple the package in KDE:Extra too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
