[Bug 1006651] New: Blurry text on scaled display
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1006651 Bug ID: 1006651 Summary: Blurry text on scaled display Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE Workspace (Plasma) Assignee: opensuse-kde-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: bosim@opensuse.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 698994 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=698994&action=edit Screenshot of infocenter with blurry text I use KDE plasma 5 with LEAP 42.2 rc 1. Some places, for example, in the infocenter (see screenshot) the text is very blurry. I run with standard antialiasing (autohint exclusively in yast font settings), and most places in both QT and GTK programs stuff looks great. I used the new scale feature to scale the display to 1.5 (eq. 144 dpi). ON LEAP 42.1 there was no problem running with 144 dpi. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

A good sizing for these laptop and desktop is scaling = 1.2 or 1.3 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

In the control center it is just QtQuick components that are blurry. Some changes has been done https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/204787/ When is update to QT 5.6.3 planned? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, and those changes referred to this bug report, as it was quite general. Nobody closed it as FIXED yet... ;-)

When is update to QT 5.6.3 planned?
I doubt that will be done, as it would involve updates of other packages that use private headers. But a patch could be added of course. Not for me to decide though, Qt5 in Leap comes from SLE and is maintained by SUSE. The SLE maintainers should read this too, though. But, the mentioned patch has status "Deferred"... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I just checked current Tumbleweed (QT 5.10, Plasma 5.11) still an issue, i.e. energy and index monitor still looks the same in the info center, so the mentioned patch does not make any difference. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
