I'm afraid this is a duplicate of bug #448577 that didn't get fixed in openSUSE 11.1...

I don't have access to this bug, so I can't see the details. Does that mean I won't be able to update my openSUSE 11.0 ? Is there a known workaround for this ? As a dirty workaround you might try to disconnect the third hard disk from your computer and run the update again.

At least, the "cannot mount /var" error has gone. Then, I had a warning message saying the partition for /boot is too small (53Mb, whereas at least 64Mb is recommended). So I clicked on Cancel at that point to check if I can resize the /dev/sda1 partition (/boot). Then got an error: The /mnt/var partition cannot be umonted, as it is in use. So I switched to VT2 and Ctrl-Alt-Del to exit. (I haven't saved y2logs this time. Would you like me to do so the next time I try to update ?) I fear I won't be able to resize the /dev/sda1 without repartitioning the whole sda disk. Do I really need a >64Mb partition for /boot ? You often have two different Kernels installed at once (default, xen) and online update can make them temporarily installed in two versions (2 * default, 2 * xen). Anyway, it's really only a warning message and your 53 MB are at 82% if the recommended partition size. The actual bug in RootPart is fixed in openSUSE 11.2 and SLE 11 SP1.
