[Bug 1120639] New: krita: pop-up palette not working properly
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1120639 Bug ID: 1120639 Summary: krita: pop-up palette not working properly Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: khnazile@rkmail.ru QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 793576 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=793576&action=edit krita popup problem Recent versions of krita (4.1.7) from KDE:Extra repository have a but of displaying a right-click menu (pop-up palette or whatever it called): it is only rendered in a small area on top-left corner of workspace, see attached image. I'm using openSUSE Leap 15.0. The problem is only reproducible when using openSUSE packages, appimage provided by krita.org works correctly. I also checked Krita 4.1.7 on Fedora 28 system, and it also worked with no problem, so it may be a openSUSE-specific issue. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Works fine here. (also using Leap 15.0 and krita 4.1.7 from KDE:Extra)
It sounds a bit like https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=402296 though. (unfortunately that bug report doesn't have a screenshot so I cannot compare...)
Apparently caused by now having HiDPI on by default, so disabling this may be a workaround.
If that is indeed the problem, it should be fixed in the next version (AFAIK there will be a 4.1.8 in the next weeks), but I'll have a look at adding the fix to our package.
I have two machines with openSUSE Leap 15.0 installed, and I'm able to reproduce this on both of them. I also tried deleting any user config files, it didn't help. Disabling HiDPI in krita settings didn't help either. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Still, please try the krita 4.1.7 package from here which contains the fix. If it doesn't help, please try the 4.1.60 one as well, which is the latest snapshot from the upstream 4.1 branch (would show if it is maybe fixed already).

I tried both 4.1.7 and 4.1.60 from your repo, and it made no difference. Although, I'm not sure if I got correct versions, as it seems publisher is stuck again. Also, I made a clean install on virtual machine, and got same behavior. Switching OpenGL acceleration makes no difference. One thing I noticed: when you first make a right-click after you make a cold start of krita, the pop-up is rendered correctly for split second. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Just one more question though: you are not using Wayland maybe, are you? I only tried on X11 so far.
I tried both KDE X11 and Wayland sessions on clean Leap 15.0 install, it made no difference. I also tried launching krita from IceWM session, it was affected by this but too. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Updating Qt to 5.9.7 makes it work as well, so it should be possible to backport the fix to 5.9.4 I suppose...
Could it be this Qt upstream bug (fixed in 5.9.5): https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-66803 ? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

As a Qt update definitely will take some time (and there's one pending already, but blocked since months)
Indeed :-/ I superseded that now with the revert added on top. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
