[Bug 567304] New: OpenOffice 3.1.1.5 can't save odt files in smb share
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567304 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567304#c0 Summary: OpenOffice 3.1.1.5 can't save odt files in smb share Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: bnc-team-ooo@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: af@anitafleerackers.be QAContact: cwei@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=334303) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=334303) screenshot User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; nl; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 SUSE/3.5.6-5.1 Firefox/3.5.6 I used OpenOffice_org 3.1 and it was working after solving bug 472337; saving odt files direct to a samba share. Now after upgrading to OpenOffice.org 3.1.1.5-1.1-i586, a stable version, I have again problems. After saving an .odt to a Samba share, I get two possible errors: 1. "Error at saving of document <document name>: error with making of object. Couldn't making a backupcopy." The errortext mentioned is a free translation of the Dutch error text (I am using a Dutch version): "Fout bij opslaan van document <document name>: Fout bij maken van object. Kon geen reservekopie maken." 2. "Error at saving of document test: General error. General input-/output error." This errortext is aloso a free translation of the Dutch error text: "Fout bij opslaan van document test: Algemene fout. Algemene invour-/uitvoerfout." There is made an empty .odt file in de Samba share. I am using: OpenOffice.org 3.1.1.5-1.1-i586 installed on openSuSe 11.1 (kernel Linux version 2.6.27.39-0.2-pae i686 (geeko@buildhost) (gcc version 4.3.2 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 141291] (SUSE Linux) ) #1 SMP 2009-11-23 12:57:38 +0100) I am using KDE 4.1.3 (KDE 4.1.3) "release 4.11.1" Samba installed on this workstation: 3.2.7-11.4.4-i586 OpenOffice_org files installed: listing using command: rpm -qa | grep OpenOffice_org OpenOffice_org-ure-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-help-nl-3.1.1.5-2.1 OpenOffice_org-math-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-filters-optional-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-mailmerge-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-filters-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-gnome-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-en-0.9.9-1.6 OpenOffice_org-templates-labels-letter-1.0-6.1 OpenOffice_org-icon-themes-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-base-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-thesaurus-de-20080406-5.1 OpenOffice_org-l10n-nl-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-impress-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-fr-0.9.9-1.6 OpenOffice_org-thesaurus-en-20060111-5.1 OpenOffice_org-templates-labels-a4-1.0-6.1 OpenOffice_org-kde-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-calc-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-hyphen-20080929-38.1 OpenOffice_org-templates-en-3.0-2.1 OpenOffice_org-libs-extern-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-libs-gui-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-help-en-US-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-libs-core-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-nl-0.9.9-1.6 OpenOffice_org-openclipart-3-3.4 OpenOffice_org-thesaurus-fr-20060511-5.1 OpenOffice_org-branding-upstream-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-pyuno-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-components-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-draw-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-de-0.9.9-1.6 OpenOffice_org-templates-presentation-layouts-3.0-2.1 OpenOffice_org-l10n-extras-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-writer-3.1.1.5-1.1 OpenOffice_org-LanguageTool-0.9.9-1.6 Samba installed on the server (openSuSe 10.2): 3.0.23d19.14-i586 I hope this bug will be solved becaouse it is very enerving. First, I am sorry for the late reply. The bug was somehow lost during Christmas.
Hmm, it works for me on openSUSE-11.1 with OOo-3.1.1.5 in GNOME and KDE3, so it is not completely broken. Though, I am even not able to load the file over the smb:// protocol in KDE4.
One problem is that we do not build the -kde4 package for openSUSE-11.1.
Staf, are you able to at least open the file from the smb share?
Kendy, Roman, is this supposed to work in KDE4?
Hi Petr, I am able to open the file from the smb share. With Best Regards, Staf Campforts -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

opening & writing in a local mount point works here
ok, so you don't see *this* bug then
What I was commenting is the #c3 about the smb:/ which is not working
Yeah, and apparently that is intentional for KDE4, and in any case, a different thing than *this* bug
The version given is the one show by the about dialog box in oowriter
Yeah, I know, it is wrong.
list of actual openoffice rpm coming all from the Unstable repo OpenOffice_org-3.2.0.2-1.1.i586
OK, so you are even talking about a totally different version than what *this* bug is about, and an unstable one even. See now how it just confuses it further for somebody like me? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
