[Bug 1059807] New: peaq-wmi module causes constant 'key presses'
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1059807 Bug ID: 1059807 Summary: peaq-wmi module causes constant 'key presses' Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Factory Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: pablofabian.wagnerboian@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/61.0.3163.79 Safari/537.36 Build Identifier: Upgrade from kernel 4.12 series to 4.13 apparently brings a new hardware driver, loaded as peaq_wmi kernel module. It seems it's for specific function hardware keys (https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/drivers/platform/x86/peaq-wmi....) The issue here is that loading this module causes a constant key press, preventing me from logging into a VT, and an interruption in hold-key presses. Also, the touch-pad scroll and tap clicking is somewhat 'laggy'. The easy workaround is to blacklist the module (which I've already done) but I decided to report the issue nevertheless. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Be sure you have a computer with some PEAQ WMI hardware. My laptop has a 'Cinema' keyboard key, attached separately from main keyboard. 2. Upgrade to latest TW kernel (4.13.1-1). Actual Results: Watch out for ^@ characters constantly being 'typed' in VTs. In X session, the touch-pad will be laggy and hold-key presses will be interrupted. Expected Results: No characters being written in VTs, smooth touch-pad and no interruption in hold-key presses. Kernel Module: peaq_wmi -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
