[Bug 537060] New: Dolphin File Manager in Root Mode Reads System Directory Structures Where a Folder is Indicated as an Upward Movement as Having Infinite Sub-directories
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=537060 Summary: Dolphin File Manager in Root Mode Reads System Directory Structures Where a Folder is Indicated as an Upward Movement as Having Infinite Sub-directories Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Applications AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 If the Dolphin File Manager views a Directory Structure and it reaches a Directory that is an indicator of only having an upwards movement, Dolphin sees this structure as having an Infinite Sub-directory structure. Instead it should view the direction of an upwards only directory as an upwards movement only and not permit an infinite sub-directory path. For Example the Directory Structure path of /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic views the 'Module' Sub-Directory' as available in a downward direction of the tree instead of moving the directory tree up a level. Because Dolphin does not view and action the "Module" directory as an upwards path only, it permits the user to infinitely move downwards through the path until it reaches max path characters. This enables the path to reach /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module/drivers/pci:ata_generic/module When in reality this path does not exist. Dolphin needs to maintain the actual directory path when it encounters an upwards direction only indicator of a subdirectory when in this case the "pci:ata_generic" directory should not permit downwards extension of the path. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Dolphin in Root Mode 2. Follow the Directory path until /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ata_generic/module/drivers"/pci:ata_generic" is reached OR "/sys/bus/pci/drivers/ata_generic/module/drivers" is reached 3. Actual Results: The user is of believe there is actually a huge subdirectory path when in reality there is not. Expected Results: Dolphin should see any upwards Directory indicator and NOT continue to add to the current path the depth of the logic. Here the user would see the huge path as actual, when in reality it is not as it only exists in logic and we should not show a user a path that is not absolute in reality.
