If you are able to switch to another tty (e.g. 6), please verify that awk really isn't available anywhere in the system: 'find awk /* | grep awk', if it exists and is located in /bin, check whether it's executable 'ls -l PATH_TO_AWK'. And the same for 'basename'. Please attach also your yast logs (http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Have you checked the cd (md5sum)?
Yes. This dvd actually works well in a non-LPAR installation.
If you are able to switch to another tty (e.g. 6)
I really can't do this because my viewer is just an attached virtual terminal connection from a Virtual-IO OS. Any ideas on how to get a shell from inside the installer? Any menu item or something? Something like Deb's "Execute a shell" menu item. I am really interested to debug the installer on an LPAR installation. Btw, my machine is an IBM System p5 510. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=277352 ------- Comment #3 from mhorvath@novell.com 2007-05-29 09:42 MST ------- Start installation, go to e.g. "Install Mode" and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+X, an xterm window should appear. http://en.opensuse.org/Invoking_terminal_from_YaST -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=277352 ------- Comment #4 from premrara@gmail.com 2007-06-03 04:22 MST ------- This is the workaround. I documented it here: http://premrara.blogspot.com/2007/05/debian-40-r0-etch-installation-on-ibm.h... This should also work for OpenSUSE. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Could you please start the installer, open xterm and attach output of hwinfo, dmesg and the /var/log/messages and boot.msg ? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Maybe it is with media or LPAR.
