http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1181974 Bug ID: 1181974 Summary: Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen.3: suspend/hibernate to ram doesn't work properly Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: p.heinlein@heinlein-support.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 845928 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=845928&action=edit output hwinfo On Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen.3 suspend/hibernate to RAM doesn't work properly. 5.3.18-lp152.63-default openSUSE Leap 15.2 If I close the cover it suspends/hibernates and starts sleeping, but when I re-open the cover it does not survive beeing awaked. Instead, it works $something for half a second and then it powers of completely. After pressing the power button, it does a complete cold boot. In rare cases it did survive a suspend and it did awake properly. But only in very rare cases. dmesg logs: systemd-logind: hibernation is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7 Lockdown: hwinfo: /dev/mem,kmem,port is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7 Lockdown: modprobe: unsafe module parameters is restricted; see man kernel_lockdown.7 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'd love to try it with S3, I know what it is and have used in the past (many years ago...). But I can't find it here on 15.2 and also I wasn't able to find a packe for it on software.opensuse.org. Could you please help me: Which package, which command? Thank you! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1181974 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1181974#c7 --- Comment #7 from Peer Heinlein <p.heinlein@heinlein-support.de> --- Created attachment 847981 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=847981&action=edit Logfile from a cycle suspend -> wake up -> unwanted shutdown The main problem is, that the system starts a "real" shut down just when it comes back from suspend mode. It awakes -- and then it shuts down. I did a echo "mem > /proc/sys/power" -- see the logfile attached. The main problem could be the entry 2021-04-05T09:57:44.431962+02:00 localhost kernel: [ 174.733525] thermal thermal_zone2: critical temperature reached (128 C), shutting down Just when it comes back it measures a high temperature. I don't know IF the temperature is that high or if the measurement is wrong because of the previous suspend state. In general the laptop is not that hot and as you can see in the logfile, it was suspended for > 15 minutes... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

There's no temperature warning in the log, but I also can's see why it started shutting down the system... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It's similar to the discussion here: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Ubuntu/Suspend-Not-Working-on-X1-Extreme-Gen-5/... I'm not able to get suspend/hibernate working on that X1G5. What details can I provide to solve that issue? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
