[Bug 464803] New: Network Manager setting hostname not possible.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=464803 Summary: Network Manager setting hostname not possible. Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: casualprogrammer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer When installing from scatch, the installation process chooses NetworkManager as default and at the same time issues a cryptic hostname. It doesn't seem to be possible to change that from within NetworkManager, the only two ways I find doing this: Either edit /etc/hosts manually. (Which is probably something to be expected by an average user) Or else switch to ifup with yast2 network, set the hostname, then switch back to NetworkManager. (Which is likewise something not to be expected by an average user.) Also this step was part of the installation procedure previously, now it seems omitted. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If you don't choose automatic configuration in the beginning of installation workflow, it is not omitted Anyway, I think setting hname with NetworkManager is among planned features for 11.2 already -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
