Added author / maintainer into Cc list. Does it work in startmode "auto" when you boot with the device plugged in? What happens when you set STARTMODE='hotplug' manually? Does it work for you then? That is, rcnetwork does not wait for the interface at boot time and it is set up when it gets plugged in later. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The STARTMODE="hotplug" is not applicable / will IMO not work here, so you've to use "auto" and the usb device has to be already plugged in. This is the case because the hardware does not provide any network interface, but a usb device. The dsl0 network interface is created by ppp-daemon later. The STARTMODE="hotplug" is to handle network interfaces and simply does not support this scenario. That yast2 switches from hotplug back to auto is OK because of this. I've found something about at: http://atm.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=UEagleAtmUdevEn The udev script provided there will not work without modifications; what is missed here is the usb-device to dsl0 interface relation, that is not completely clear to me (VPIVCI='0.35' in the usb).
From my point of view it is as it is described at:
http://faq.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=ModemSupport: "[...] CAUTION : ADSL USB modems cannot really be well supported under GNU/Linux, even though they may seem to work from a user's point of view. Although vendor may provide some technical help, all ADSL USB drivers are plagued with closed firmware (proprietary, no source code given, no licence compatible with Free Software) that prevent good understanding of inner- working of those modems. We recommend that you buy ethernet modems that rely - for most of them - on completely free drivers (as in free speech). [...]" When you're still interested to try to get it running with udev hotplug, please answer / let me know and we'll see what we can do. I need your help: providing info and testing. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
