[Bug 687171] New: X server crashes with segmentation fault when running remote KDE clients
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687171 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687171#c0 Summary: X server crashes with segmentation fault when running remote KDE clients Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: R.Vickers@cs.rhul.ac.uk QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=424667) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=424667) Compressed Xorg log User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-GB; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16 Since upgrading from OpenSuSE 11.2 to 11.4 I have been plagued by X server crashes. These have occurred with both the Catalyst and radeon drivers, and also after booting with the x11failsafe option. They seem to be triggered by running KDE X clients on a remote (OpenSuSE 11.2) server connected by ssh with X tunnelling. For example, I can trigger it fairly reliably (not 100% but close) by running korganizer and selecting the File/Import dialogue...X11 crashes at the point it should display the file-picker window. My graphics card is an ATI RADEON HD 4650. There are two 1050x1680 monitors attached, though I have switched one of them off in the forlorn hope it might simplify matters. I have attached an Xorg log file showing a segmentation fault generated immediately after starting yast2 on a remote 11.2 system. The local machine was booted with x11failsafe. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect to remote 11.2 system using 'ssh -X' 2. Select File/Import menu and select Import Calendar Actual Results: X server crashes Expected Results: File picker window should appear -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The system was booted with nomodeset, as the radeonhd driver still refuses to start without it.
radeonhd can't be used with KMS active. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
