https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223909 ------- Comment #7 from dominique.leuenberger@tmf-group.com 2006-11-28 01:24 MST ------- Joachim: indeed, it looks like a small problem with small effect, and a small solution probably too. Nevertheless, it's one of the first error messages on an installation you ever see. I'm not sure if I would like to have the first time an installation with such an error on my screen, after I just decided to give this OS a 1st try. If you get a working patch: are there chances that it will be fixed even for 10.2? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223909 ------- Comment #10 from snwint@novell.com 2006-11-29 04:36 MST ------- Well, in rc3 it complains about using an uninitialized value at line 1465. But at least the message is shorter now, so it's a kind of improvement. :-/ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=223909 ------- Comment #11 from seife@novell.com 2007-01-10 09:42 MST ------- it is also in SLES10SP1preview2: Found an xterm terminal on /dev/pts/0 (128 columns x 26 lines). *** Starting YaST2 *** Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Bootloader/Core/GRUB.pm line 1485 (#1) (W uninitialized) An undefined value was used as if it were already defined. It was interpreted as a "" or a 0, but maybe it was a mistake. To suppress this warning assign a defined value to your variables. To help you figure out what was undefined, perl tells you what operation you used the undefined value in. Note, however, that perl optimizes your program and the operation displayed in the warning may not necessarily appear literally in your program. For example, "that $foo" is usually optimized into "that " . $foo, and the warning will refer to the concatenation (.) operator, even though there is no . in your program. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

A little confusing is the fact that perl warns about the "if" line, not the later "elsif". A quick fix to get "" for $type is: my ($type) = split(/:/, $go->{$key} || ":"); [*]: a trick to edit a file inside a read-only fs: cp /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Bootloader/Core/GRUB.pm /root mount --bind /root/GRUB.pm /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Bootloader/Core/GRUB.pm vi /root/GRUB.pm -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
