[Bug 988586] New: Resume from hibernate fails on Dell skylake laptop
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=988586 Bug ID: 988586 Summary: Resume from hibernate fails on Dell skylake laptop Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: mchandras@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 683938 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=683938&action=edit lspci.txt Hi, Ever since I installed TW on a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop, I am having numerous problems with hibernate and resume. The laptop normally fails to resume from hibernate 2 out of 5 times. When that happens, it does not even respond to sysrq keys. The only way out is to hard reset it. This has been happening from the beginning (around 4.1.X kernels). The screen goes blank so it's not possible to read any output. Switching to tty does not work as well. I have also tried 'echo -n disk > /sys/power/state' but that fails to resume as well. This might be related to http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=957547 but in my case the laptop hangs instead of magically rebooting. I suspect that the culprit might be the Intel GPU but booting with 'nomodeset' renders the entire X useless. The whole screen flickers and GDM can't log me in. It simply returns back to the login page. Let me know if you need me to try anything or provide more information This is the CPU type: processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 61 model name : Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5600U CPU @ 2.60GHz stepping : 4 microcode : 0x22 cpu MHz : 2600.101 cache size : 4096 KB physical id : 0 siblings : 4 core id : 1 cpu cores : 2 apicid : 3 initial apicid : 3 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 20 wp : yes flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe syscall nx pdpe1gb rdtscp lm constant_tsc arch_perfmon pebs bts rep_good nopl xtopology nonstop_tsc aperfmperf eagerfpu pni pclmulqdq dtes64 monitor ds_cpl vmx smx est tm2 ssse3 sdbg fma cx16 xtpr pdcm pcid sse4_1 sse4_2 x2apic movbe popcnt tsc_deadline_timer aes xsave avx f16c rdrand lahf_lm abm 3dnowprefetch epb intel_pt tpr_shadow vnmi flexpriority ept vpid fsgsbase tsc_adjust bmi1 hle avx2 smep bmi2 erms invpcid rtm rdseed adx smap xsaveopt dtherm ida arat pln pts bugs : bogomips : 5188.69 clflush size : 64 cache_alignment : 64 address sizes : 39 bits physical, 48 bits virtual power management: And the kernel line BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.6.3-1-default root=UUID=61304287-67bb-472c-9d81-bf6f967a5ab7 resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/b02823ca-cbb1-4b38-bb53-dbd16502c49c showopts I have also attached my lspci output. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
