[Bug 1233414] New: Torn screen when at 4k@120hz after Tumbleweed 2024-10-05
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1233414 Bug ID: 1233414 Summary: Torn screen when at 4k@120hz after Tumbleweed 2024-10-05 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel:Drivers Assignee: kernel-bugs@suse.de Reporter: me@bobloblaw.eu QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Target Milestone: --- Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 878608 --> https://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=878608&action=edit Photo of torn screen at 4k@120hz Hello! I run Tumbleweed on a mini pc which is connected to a TV and which I usually run at 4k (3840x2160) resolution and 120hz refresh rate. After I ran a dist upgrade on 2024-10-05 the screen is no longer displayed properly at this resolution and refresh rate combo. The screen looks split in half, with the right half looking stretched and purple. See attached photo. If I reduce the refresh rate to 60hz, it displays normally. https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1233414 https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1233414#c2 --- Comment #2 from Bob Loblaw <me@bobloblaw.eu> --- I tried some of the suggested fixes from that thread (and a couple of linked ones), but none of them resolved the issue for me. More specifically: - I tried setting the kernel cmdline parameters to amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10, 0x200 and 0x610 - I then also tried downgrading to both "kernel-firmware-amdgpu-20241001-1.1.noarch" and "kernel-firmware-amdgpu-20240728-slfo.1.1.3.noarch" (which was the newest version I could find from before the working Tumbleweed version 20240922) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Your system hasn't seen any upgrades since two months and you are using a rolling release distribution. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
