[Bug 941864] New: High system resource usage with new landing page for Leap
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941864 Bug ID: 941864 Summary: High system resource usage with new landing page for Leap Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Infrastructure Assignee: mrueckert@suse.com Reporter: rgb.mldc@gmail.com QA Contact: lars.vogdt@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Opening the new landing page that's being developed for Leap release(1), the system resource usage and CPU temperature increase dramatically. With firefox, on less than 10 seconds the temperature of my laptop goes beyond 82ºC with the browser taking more than 20% of CPU. Note that with normal browsing on firefox temperature is between 55 and 60ºC and firefox's CPU usage is between 1 and 5%. With chromium the situation is quite similar (temperature goes from normal to ~80ºC and CPU usage rapidly grows from 1% to 22%). By closing the page everything returns to normality. My computer is a low end, all intel (i3 processor with integrated GPU) laptop running openSUSE 13.2. Under these conditions, the new page is not usable for me: I cannot maintain it opened for more than few seconds without overheating the computer. If it's not possible to make this new page more "light", then an static alternative should be offered, with an easy to see "switch" on it. ------ (1) http://cyntss.github.io/opensuse-landing-page/# -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you give me additional information about the system you are running? I'd like to triage this bug and find a proper priority based on the number of systems this could possibly affect.
So far, you are the first to report this so gathering more information is my first step.
My system is an ASUS X551CA with Intel Core i3 3217U Processor and Integrated Intel HD4000 Graphics running openSUSE 13.2 64 bits. At least another person reported 30% CPU usage here: https://news.opensuse.org/2015/08/13/the-weekly-review-libreoffice-5-in-tumb... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
