osc co --expand-link does checkout the _link file anyway. The option seems to
get ignored.
Tested using the from openSUSE:Tools and openSUSE:Tools:Unstable on two
systems..

I'm puzzled why the api dies, anyway. It shouldn't try to interpret the content of _link at all.
The api doesn't die (at least not on a local obs) it simply treat _link files as normal source files.
