Printer is properly detected in cups (when configuring with web interface), dmesg: --- Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: usb 3-3: new device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: usb 3-3: Product: USB MFP Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: usb 3-3: Manufacturer: EPSON Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: usb 3-3: SerialNumber: W24240403260415520 Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: usb 3-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Feb 11 22:08:25 linux kernel: drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04B8 pid 0x0802 -- However when I open yast-printer, it doesn't show up (I have to use Add function). Manually removing cups settings and then doing clean reinstal of cups, gutenprint, foomatic-filters didn't solve the problem. Printer is an Epson CX3200 (multifunction device), I also tried with another (Epson c43ux) but it failed the same way. I need a detailed step by step report to have at last a chance to reproduce your problem (because I can print well). Does the command echo Hello | lp -d <queue-name> print the word Hello? (Replace <queue-name> with the name of your print queue.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

If I try to print from e.g. kwrite, I get slightly different error: Unsupported format 'application/postscript'! I get same error If I try to print test page from cups web interface: 1. http://localhost:631/ 2. click on Printers tab 3. click on Print test page Note: I can print pictures from gimp. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=244514 ------- Comment #3 from jsmeix@novell.com 2007-02-12 06:49 MST ------- Your CUPS installation is somehow broken. See http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:CUPS_-_Reinstalling_the_Printing_System and report if it works afterwards. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=244514 ------- Comment #4 from kristjan.ugrin@gmail.com 2007-02-12 07:18 MST ------- I reinstalled cups like it is described in the link you provided (I installed cups from suse dvd with yast, not updated packages from net). Now cups web interface administration found 2 printer: EPSON Stylus CX3200 (EPSON Stylus CX3200 USB #1) EPSON USB MFP (Gutenprint USB Printer #1) but I have only one. However I configured both devices, but none of them works. Yast still doesn't detect my printer (only by using add -> directly connected -> usb). No matter if I configure my printer with yast or cups web admin - it doesn't work (same error as above). Also when I start yast2-printer module, dmesg prints (I think it scans parallel port, but my printer is usb): ---- Feb 12 15:17:12 linux kernel: pnp: Device 00:09 disabled. From which exact URL did you download them? I ask because if it is from a openSUSE project, I would try to inform the matching maintainer of those package.
