[Bug 341462] New: readline ignores keycodes of arrow keys
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=341462 Summary: readline ignores keycodes of arrow keys Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: estellnb@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Arrow keys remain uninterpreted for sys.stdin.readline(). Interestingly they are interpreted correctly if python prompts for input in dialogue mode. Nevertheless also python programmes besides the python interpreter itself should allow the usage of these keys (without any further tricks having to be applied by the python programmer). Even trying to configure readline to interpret these keys has no effect on the execution of stdin.readline(): readline.parse_and_bind('"\e[D": backward-char') etc. Even the 'input' and 'raw_input' functions cease to take care of navigation keys if the input file descriptor #0 is set to a hand opened tty. This may be a configuration problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

readline.parse_and_bind('"x": backward-char') will redefine x for command input to the python interpreter (and for the usage of input() and raw_input()) but not for the stdin.readline() function readline() behaves very much like a read() system call that is terminated by ^M(#10) instead of ^D. It seems to ignore any key binding to be established by
