[Bug 468311] New: kde4-amarok and amarok can be installed in parallel (or rather not)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468311 Summary: kde4-amarok and amarok can be installed in parallel (or rather not) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.5 Firefox/3.0.5 This probably gets WONTFIXED as it disappears for 11.2 anyway but perhaps it's interesting for an online update so I'm just filing it. kde4-amarok and amarok can be installed in parallel but both are using executables named "amarok" and desktop files named "amarok" (in different locations so there are no file conflicts). That's still a bit weird since amarok (1.4) gets hidden completely from the user since starting "amarok" will never start 1.4 and the desktop menu also is not showing Amarok 1.4 anymore. So there should have been another executable name (like amarok1; and desktop entry) or the packages should conflict IMHO. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Even if KDE can handle that gracefully it looks like bad design to have the same desktop and executable names. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Anyway, as you say, this won't be in 11.2, so it's not worth the effort to change it and check what possibly breaks as a result. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
