[Bug 1108009] New: resolv.conf broken after rollback
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1108009 Bug ID: 1108009 Summary: resolv.conf broken after rollback Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: mt@suse.com Reporter: lnussel@suse.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de CC: fvogt@suse.com, kukuk@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- /etc/resolv.conf is managed by netconfig. netconfig stores the md5sum of the file in /var/adm/netconfig/md5 to detect user modifications. /var is on a separate subvolume however, so when performing a rollback /etc/resolv.conf gets rolled back bug /var isn't. So the checksum may no longer match if resolv.conf changed between the target snapshot and the current system. netconfig would therefore install /etc/resolv.conf.netconfig after boot, causing DNS resolving problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I do not see anything we could do at the netconfig side, except of bug 1097370 or a change to use NETCONFIG_FORCE_REPLACE=yes as default, do you? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

But yeah, I don't have other ideas either. Bug 1097370 is the future. Not sure how to hook into the rollback procedure. I hope someone in the CC list knows :-) For 15.0 we may even decide to not fix this but rather document it in the release notes. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1108009 http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1108009#c4 --- Comment #4 from Ludwig Nussel <lnussel@suse.com> --- Found it. We have https://github.com/openSUSE/rollback-helper but name is misleading. It's not generic but only about registration. Could be made more generic too or handle the resolv.conf case though. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
