[Bug 903542] New: Please add support for ALPS v7 touchpads to the openSUSE 13.2 Kernel
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=903542 Bug ID: 903542 Summary: Please add support for ALPS v7 touchpads to the openSUSE 13.2 Kernel Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 RC 1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: badshah400@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- openSUSE 13.2 will be released with Linux kernel version 3.16.6, which does not support the touchpad on my Lenovo Flex 14 laptop. The touchpad is recognised only as a PS/2 mouse(!) which makes it really painful to use. Support for this device, that is ALPS v7 touchpad, was only added to Kernel 3.17.0 by means of this commit: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=3... and subsequently improved by the commit: https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=f... . It would be immensely beneficial for this support for the ALPS v7 touchpad to be backported to the openSUSE 13.2 kernel since many recent laptops (e.g. all Toshiba Z series laptops and many Lenovo Flex and Yoga series laptops) come with this touchpad, so it isn't some exotic device by any means. Also, I have actually updated to Kernel 3.17.1 from Kernel:Stable and actually verified that this touchpad actually works with that. Anything else I can do to help, I would be most happy to -- just let me know. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
