This morning my Samsung NC10 (OpenSuse 11.3-KDE, 32-bit) failed to set the network address for my wireless card. According to /var/log/messages numerous dhcp requests were sent but it never acquired an IP address. KNetworkmanager eventually prompts for the key again and restarts the cycle. This is on a WEP "encrypted" network. Note I do _not_ get the gain calibration messages mentioned in this report (but not in 617640)! I rebooted into Fedora 12 and had the same problem. I rebooted into Windows and managed to connect successfully. Eventually, I decided to reboot the wireless router (Asus WL500gP-running DD-WRT) after which I could connect again. So my problem could have been a router issue but Windows connected successfully before the reboot. I'm happy to test with compat-wireless but what's the best place to get it from? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

You reported in Comment #15 that without NetworkManager (NM) you can not observe this problem anymore. In this case the problem is in NM or in knetworkmanager. Driver, wireless extension and wpa_supplicant is working for you. In 11.3 gnome desktop is NM working for me. I guess that there is a problem in knetworkmanager. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

And reload module doesn't help is bad too. I workaround this problem with scripts for pm-suspend As first before system to suspend use script (/etc/pm/sleep.d/40wifi_off): /sbin/rmmod ath5k ath mac80211 cfg80211 And after resume as last script use (/etc/pm/sleep.d/00wifi_on): /sbin/modprobe ath5k and all works great So, you have right. Problem is probably in pm-suspend or networkmanager or knetworkmanager.
